Energy from the sun that reaches earth as ultraviolet (UV) rays. UV radiation can cause health problems such as sunburn, skin cancer, skin aging, cataracts and can suppress the immune system. Expressed as an instantaneous value as UV Index or as an accumulation as MEDs (Minimum Erythemal Doses). MEDs indicate the minimum value required to cause sunburn.
